Webinar #21: Time for Change: 100 years of the 5-day week

1st May 2026 marks 100 years of the Fordist 5-day week!

On 1 May 1926, Ford Motor Company in the USA became the first major employer to adopt a five-day, 40 hour working week.

For this European Work-Time Network webinar, Joe Ryle from the 4-Day Week Foundation and Dr Tatiana Pignon from the Autonomy Institute join us. They discussed the history of the 5-day week, where we are today and the campaign for the 4-day week.

The event was hosted online at 1pm Brussels time on Wednesday 27th May. Our speakers delivered a short presentation on the subject, followed by an audience Q&A.
